NGC’s Montreal Subway Gearbox (a PDM470 type dual-stage subway gearbox) passed its initial client Inspection.
Montreal is Canada’s second largest city and one of the country’s most important economic centers. The PDM470 type gearbox was configured in strict accordance with the customer specification coupled with NGC’s many years of design and production experience. This product represents the latest development in subway gearboxes. It has the advantages of light weight, low noise output, a long lifespan, high reliability, and easy maintenance. The unique gear modification technology adopted has greatly improved carrying capacity and significantly reduced noise in order to meet customers’ requirements. At the same time, nonlinear finite element analysis technology has been used to ensure a lightweight design of the gearbox body and improve overall power density. Considering Montreal’s harsh climatic conditions in the design process high-toughness housing materials were used, and the lubrication route design was improved, enabling the gearbox to operate at - 40 ℃ ~ 50 ℃ ambient temperature. The design life of certain key parts is as long as 40 years, while the maintenance-free usage life is more than 1.25 million kilometers.
As an expert and solutions provider of gearboxes and power transmissions, NGC has been deeply involved in the transmission technology field for 50 years.
